Come, discover the depths in Baja California and confirm the reason why the famous biologist, Jacques Cousteau, named the Sea of Cortez the world’s aquarium. Home to approximately three thousand marine species, no matter where you are on the peninsula, you will be able to admire hammerheads, sea lions, stingrays, moray eels, corals and old sunken ships.
The beauty of its beaches lapped by the water of the Sea of Cortez is indisputable, but to experience it up close you have to dive into the deep blue ocean. If you are in the city of La Paz, capital of this beautiful destination, visiting Los Islotes is quite a spectacle, because the rock formations making up this island are home to sea lions. The different water depths allow swimming, in some parts, and scuba diving at least 105 feet deep to watch the colonies of silvery sardines, royal blue and gold angel fish, as well as conchitos, plus the amazing corals found there.

Mexican travelers include the neighboring beach towns of Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo, in the state of Guerrero, as favorite destinations, but that’s where their similarity ends. Visitors to this area will encounter two decidedly different vacation destinations just 6.5 km (4 miles apart). Ixtapa, once a coconut plantation, boasts the high-rise hotels, all-inclusive resorts, air-conditioned restaurants and upscale shopping you associate with Mexican beach resorts and luxury travel.
Zihuatanejo, on the other hand, evolved from quaint fishing village to backpackers’ hotspot to today’s incarnation of winding streets of galleries and folk art shops, small boutique hotels and palapa-style seafood restaurants serving the catch of the day. Backpackers still holiday here, but share the experience with honeymooners, snorkelers, swimmers, and cultural travelers who appreciate “Zihua’s” laid-back vibe and postcard-worthy scenery of rocky cliffs, sand and sea. Things to do: taking the boat to Isla Ixtapa, goen fishing in Ixtapa, Swinging and golf course, snorkeling with dolphins, and more!Book your Trip online: Visit TAP México

Before John Huston’s 1964 film, The Night of the Iguana, Puerto Vallarta was a just sleepy fishing village on the Pacific Coast where the states of Jalisco and Nayarit meet. But Liz Taylor came to keep an eye on her lover Richard Burton while he was filming with the voluptuous Ava Gardner. The publicity buzz about Burton and Liz’s torrid affair and the movie put Vallarta on the tourist map.
Sharing the same latitude as the Hawaiian Islands, Puerto Vallarta sits prettily in the middle of the Bay of Banderas, Mexico’s largest bay, measuring 42 km (26 miles) from tip to tip. North of the city of Puerto Vallarta, the Ameca River forms a natural boundary between Jalisco and the state of Nayarit where newer resorts and developments form the Riviera Nayarit. Once you get away from the beach, Puerto Vallarta’s hilly cobblestone streets seem to merge into the green foothills of the Sierra Madre Mountains. We doubt they sell many Stair Masters here; you’ll get plenty of exercise just navigating up and around town. The Cuale River, which divides Puerto Vallarta in half, flows down from the mountains and empties into the Pacific. Today, Puerto Vallarta reigns as one of Mexico’s most popular winter destinations because of its great diversity and almost perfect climate.
